Guide Review - Review of Esperanza Inn in Vieques
Start with the accommodations. Whether you're a single traveler looking for a budget bed or a family looking for space to spread out in, the Inn has a room for you. The Inn has three apartments that come with a full kitchen and living room; a spacious 2-bedroom unit that can sleep seven and two 1-bedrooms that can accommodate six people. The Inn also has several guestrooms throughout the property, and a separate casita ideal for couples on a romantic getaway.
The decor is basic and caters more to comfort and functionality than style. And the personal attention of the innkeepers, Jim and Lisa Ferguson, add to the hotel's homey feel.
What really makes Esperanza Inn shine is its common areas. A large communal kitchen gives everyone a place to eat in whenever they want. The cozy lounge is equipped with a big screen TV, DVDs, books, games, and even a computer with wi-fi access. One corner of the inn is devoted to a stock of beach chairs, umbrellas, beach accessories and coolers that guests have full access to when they want to hit the beaches. And laundry facilities -- a huge plus -- are available free of charge.
A large lawn, above-ground dip pool, and roof deck complete the inn. At night, the roof is a great place to star-gaze; in fact the Puerto Rico astronomical society books the inn once a year to do just that.
Put it all together, and this is a cute and welcoming retreat that offers a whole lot beyond a guestroom in Esperanza.
