A Brooklyn native of Puerto Rican descent, Esai Morales has enjoyed a long career on film and TV. Perhaps best known for his recurring role as Lieutenant Tony Rodriguez on NYPD Blue, I still find his most memorable performace to be as half-brother to Lou Diamond Phillips' Ritchie Valens in La Bamba. His TV credits include 24, Jericho, and, not quite so recently, Miami Vice and Fame.
