Definition:

Okay, so you know what a peso is. Many South American countries uses pesos as their currency. What's curious about the Puerto Rican use of the term is that their peso is actually the dollar! While most of the Spanish-speaking world calls American dollars dolares, the island where they are actually used as the local currency calls it pesos. Go figure.
