The San Sebastián Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico

At the tail end of the long and tremendously fun Christmas season in Puerto Rico is one of the island's best events: the San Sebastián Festival. This gigantic street party has been a tradition since 1954 in Old San Juan, when a Father Madrazo launched the fair to help raise funds to restore parts of San Sebastián Street. The first street fair was highlighted by a parade of the Three Kings.

From those humble beginnings, the festival has grown exponentially and these draws hundreds of thousands of tourists and locals to the old city. It also attracts a small army of artisans, musicians, performers, food stalls and other vendors, making it one serious block party that has become a religious, cultural, and social event unlike any other in Puerto Rico, and definitely worth the visit.
