Settling In at El Yunque

I'm assuming an early morning departure on the first day of your El Yunque adventure. I'm also assuming you've rented a car. These inns and eco-lodges epitomize the Yunque experience.

Before you settle in, I highly recommend stopping at a groecery store or Panadería to pick up sandwiches and other food and beverage necessities. It'll come in handy on the hiking trail - if you fancy a picnic lunch - and at night, when you're in your hotel and there is literally nothing for miles around. Fortunately, Panadería Don Nico is on the way to the forest.

Depending on where you're staying, you may want to stay around your hotel on your first day. Places like Villa Sevilla and Casa Cubuy offer hiking trails, nearby rivers and natural wading pools just steps away. If you prefer to check out the more public and visited parts of the forest, read on...
