Team Puerto Rico did its island proud, almost making it to the top of the mountain at the World Baseball Classic and knocking off a few Goliaths in its unexpected run. Not bad for an island that has long been one of baseball's hallowed homes.
Now that the World Baseball Classic is over (and by the way, congrats to the Dominican Republic for a historic run), we can look forward to the next big event on the horizon in Puerto Rico ... the Heineken Jazz Festival. One of the biggest events on the Puerto Rican calendar, this celebrated event, now in its 23rd year, is arguably one of the finest Jazz concerts south of New Orleans. Actually, Puerto Rico, Heineken and Jazz go back a long way, and this concert is an annual tribute to a movement that began in the 1980s.
The 2013 Festival brings stars like the Grammy®-nominated Strunz & Farah guitar duo (check out "Bola" to get a feel for their incredible sound) Puerto Rican drummer Henry Cole and trumpeter Nicolas Payton attending this year, it promises to be the musical event of the season.
The event takes place from March 21-24 at the Tito Puente Amphitheater, and you can get tickets here. If you're a Jazz-lover, don't miss a chance to catch elite talent performing in an open-air, under-the-stars concert in the Caribbean.
