I was delighted to hear about Spün Food Tours, a relatively new venture from Paulina Salach, who organized last year's Puerto Rico Restaurant Week. With three tours on offer, Spün caters equally to early birds, the lunch crowd and those looking for a nice dinner out. The morning walking tour includes local pastries and coffee, frozen yogurt and sangria and fritters in Old San Juan. For lunch, hop in the Spün van and head to metro San Juan for some tasty local fare at three stops in the city and nearby Piñones. Finally, for dinner, Spün takes you to three of the best restaurants San Juan has to offer in Condado and Santurce.
The tour is one of three culinary guided tours in the capital, each of them offering a unique experience and the chance to dine at various eateries around the city while your guide tells you about the unique history of San Juan. As a veteran of the food tour experience, I can attest that these are wonderful ways to explore the cuisine and the culture of the island. Pick the one that suits you best and enjoy!
