For those of you who check this site for updates on the semiannual SoFo Fest, my apologies for the last minute notice. And for those of you who have never experienced this wonderful culinary event, I sure hope you're in San Juan this weekend. Because starting tomorrow the Winter SoFo Fest hits Old San Juan!
This food festival is named after South Fortaleza Street, a chic little stretch of the old city that extends from Plaza Colón to Cristo Street. The southern end of the street has become a Restaurant Row where some of the most interesting, flavorful and consistently terrific eateries in the city have set up shop. For SoFo, the street closes to vehicular traffic and these establishments bring their flavors outside, letting hungry diners restaurant-hop and sample a variety of local and exotic foods.
Among the perennial participants at SoFo are Dragonfly, Aguaviva, The Parrot Club and Toro Salao. And with these four alone, you get to sample fusion cuisine that blends the tastes of Puerto Rico, Latin America, Spain and Asia. Buen provecho!
