Free Forts for Summer and Beyond

The National Park Service is doing their part to make things a bit more affordable in these tough times, by giving you three summer weekends where entrance fees will be waived at its National Parks and Sites. This includes the Castillo de San Cristóbal and Castillo San Felipe del Morro, which will be free to visit on the following dates:
  • July 18-19
  • August 15-16 2009
  • September 26
  • November 11
A free pass issued on Saturday will be honored on Sunday as well. While you're visiting one of the sites, you can take advantage of guided tours at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at San Cristóbal, as well as informational talks every hour on the hour in the main plaza of el Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal. In addition, be sure to check out the following special events at San Cristóbal:
  • The free Lelolai Festival will takes place in the main plaza of Castillo San Cristóbal on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
  • Sunset orientation talks will be held just outside San Cristóbal on Mondays at 6:15 p.m.
