Please Don’t Be On A Diet, Part 3
The last installment of my three-part blog for food-lovers focuses on the mix of ethnic and exotic, local and international. Perhaps due to its melting-pot culture, Puerto Rican cuisine has expanded far beyond its borders, incorporating ingredients, flavors, and recipes from around the world into the local dining out scene.
There are a few restaurants that lead the vanguard of this culinary globetrotting. In Old San Juan, Dragonfly offers Puerto Rican cooking with an Asian flare, while Aguaviva dared to make a paella with couscous. One of Vieques’ best restaurants, Café Media Luna successfully blends Indian and Caribbean flavors. And in Culebra, Juanita Bananas has a sushi menu infused with tropical taste.
I’m not even covering the high-quality non-fusion ethnic eateries on the island, which include Indian, Thai, French, and Lebanese, to name just a few. The point is, you won’t get bored with the dining selections here … unless you’re on a diet.
